Nice. The rhymes are perfect; they flow well and they work because of the audience of the poem.

Wow! That's a compliment! I love Shel Silverstein. The poem practically wrote itself and I think I had Canadian poet Dennis Lee (Aligator Pie) in mind when I wrote it.

Well, it would have been spelled correctly if I'd put both 'L's in it.

It's the title of a collection of poems, including the titular poem. It was made into a short children's feature in the late 90s (I believe). Here's a snippet of it:

Alligator pie, alligator pie
If I don't get some
I think I'm gonna die...

...Give away the green grass
give away the sky
but don't give away
my alligator pie.
