Icicle On My Bicycle by *msklystron:iconmsklystron:

Icicle On My Bicycle

There’s an icicle on my bicycle
There’s a snowflake on my cupcake
Jack Frost painted the town last night

There’s an ice cube in my inner tube
There’s snowballs in my overalls
Jack Frost came stealing last night

There’s a snowman in my sauce pan
There’s ice crystals on my toy pistols
Jack Frost was lurking last night.

So I took the bike for a hike
And tossed the cake in a lake
I sent my tube down the Danube
I put my overalls in mothballs
I traded the pan for a ceiling fan
I mailed my pistols to Bristol.
And waited for Mr. Sun to shine bright.

This made me giggle. It reminded me of Shel Silverstein =D

:giggle: Nice. The rhymes are perfect; they flow well and they work because of the audience of the poem.

Thank you!!! Kids poems are fun to write because they're mainly about the rhymes and word sounds.

Wow! That's a compliment! I love Shel Silverstein. The poem practically wrote itself and I think I had Canadian poet Dennis Lee (Aligator Pie) in mind when I wrote it.

I have never read Aligator Pie...that spelling seems wrong.

Well, it would have been spelled correctly if I'd put both 'L's in it.:)

It's the title of a collection of poems, including the titular poem. It was made into a short children's feature in the late 90s (I believe). Here's a snippet of it:

Alligator pie, alligator pie
If I don't get some
I think I'm gonna die...

...Give away the green grass
give away the sky
but don't give away
my alligator pie.

--Dennis Lee

The guy is basically a genius at kids' poetry. He makes it look so easy.:)
